Hi! My name is Carmen Staton. I was born and raised in Missouri and currently live in Southern California. 

I became a StoryWay Guide because I believe everyone has a story to tell. I came to this conclusion after writing and publishing my novel in 2006. The process of writing about my life, in a fictionalized story, was profoundly healing and cathartic. Then when I was touring and speaking in bookstores so many people raise their hands and shared their stories with me.

I love introducing the idea to people that they have a story to tell and that other people will be interested in reading that story. Even if it is read only by family and friends that story, your story, is unique and important.

Last year as I was scrolling through Facebook when I saw a post that my mother had shared. The post said there was a training to become a Certified Legacy Guide. The training was to be led by Jeremy Brown of Throne publishing in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. I contacted Jeremy the next day and got myself signed up. Unbeknownst  to me, my sister, Shelley Berg, had also seen the post and contacted Jeremy! We both attended the training and both became guides! I truly feel that I was divinely led to the Legacy Guide and StoryWay program.

Outside of being a writer, I am an avid reader. I read everything from historical Fiction to cookbooks. Which leads me to another passion, food! I love cooking and baking for family and friends and even had a successful catering business. I walk, hike, do you yoga, and take poetry writing workshops every chance I get! I have a fantastic 20 year old daughter who is away at university, a wonderful and supportive partner, David, who is also my business partner, two adorable elementary school aged step-kids, and a dog and a cat. I couldn’t be more blessed!
